Athenabacchus was established in the Spring of 1998 with a 1.5 Ha plot of Chardonnay.
Two years later the Shiraz block was planted followed two years later by a Pinot Gris and a Sauvignon Blanc plot.
The first harvest was in March 2002 but 2003 saw the first wine produced from our vines - the Shiraz.
Athenabacchus is the result of one man's stubborn dream and the hard work of the family.
For five years we commuted to the vineyard on the weekends to work a little more on the dream that has become the reality of Athenabacchus.
But, what does the name mean?
Athena gave us olives for peace
Bacchus gave us wine to celebrate.
