All roads will lead to Rutherglen on the weekend of October 3 & 4 as the region's famed ‘Red Wine with Attitude' will celebrate the ripe old age of 101. Winemakers and visitors alike are very keen to start the next century off with a bang!
The actual Durif grape was first developed in southern France in the 1880s and bought to Rutherglen in 1908 and after 101 years Durif is known as the region's iconic red wine.
Celebrations of this legendary red wine will be taking place over the weekend at the nine Durif of Rutherglen wineries. Individual winery activities such as special back vintage releases, masterclass tasting and barrel sampling will be occurring. Central to the celebrations is Campbells Wines' Icon dinner in their atmospheric cellar, join them on the Saturday evening for the release of their 2007 Barkly Durif.
