A total of 24 gold ‘ladles’ were awarded recently at the 2010 Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards gala presentation in Adelaide.

Winners came from as far afield as USA, New Zealand, France, Australia, Spain, Cambodia, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom. More than 700 entries were received for the competition, which was judged by an international panel of 60 jurors.

Among celebrity chefs who were in Adelaide to receive their awards were the UK’s Antony Worrall Thompson, for his Best Health and Nutrition book, The Essential Diabetes Cookbook, while Rosemary Shrager world famous cookery Teacher and TV chef was on hand to present awards.

Best Television Food and/or Drink Show went to Australia’s popular MasterChef on Channel Ten.

In addition to Le Cordon Bleu Gold ladles, two individuals, well known to the food and drink industry, were honoured for their outstanding achievements in the industry. British chef, restaurateur, TV presenter and writer Jamie Oliver was inducted into the Tasting Australia International Hall of Fame, while Australia’s Maggie Beer was the national inductee. The Tasting Australia Hall of Fame is sponsored by Meat and Livestock Australia.

Ian Parmenter, Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards Jury Chairman and Tasting Australia Festival Director, said “the standard of entries in this year’s competition was extraordinarily high and the international judges were faced with an enormous task. However, they were consistent in their agreement on the winners.”

Mr. Andre Cointreau, President, Le Cordon Bleu said: “I am very proud to once again be involved in the Le Cordon Bleu Food Media Awards and its association with winners of such high calibre and international standing.  Bravo and congratulations to all of the very deserving award recipients”.
