Born in Plymouth, England, Nick had a varied early career including banking and advertising before his interest in wine led to him working for Oddbins in the UK.
A move to France in 1995 to run the wine merchant Mille Vignes in Wimereux, led to an increasing interest in the meaning of terroir and to the contact with vignerons working with natural methods in harmony with nature.
This has lead him to be passionate in encountering the winemakers as part of the process to understanding and appreciating their wines, as well as other natural products such as olive oil, truffles, and also that mysterious art the marriage of food with wine.
Since 2005 Nick, as well as his writing activities, leads wine tours, seminaries and tastings. He also runs vineyard visits, which he organises and accompanies, to share his love of the southern French countryside.
Nick now lives in the wine village of Cairanne, within sight of the Dentelles de Montmirail, so is ideally placed to pursue his passion for the wines of the area!
