Getting there
Tourism Tasmania is providing you and your someone special with return flights from either Sydney or Melbourne and a hire car will be all yours for four days.
Stylish accommodation and delicious food
Your base to explore this wonderful wine region is Rosevears Vineyard Retreat - stylish accommodation perched atop hills overlooking the majestic Tamar River and just 15 minutes from Launceston. Your spacious apartment is simply but tastefully furnished so as not to detract from breathtaking views through the floor to ceiling windows.
Estelle Restaurant, located on the vineyard property, also makes the most of its world class views with windows and a balcony to take in the scenery. Savour the freshest local produce, cooked to perfection and matched with wines from the Tamar Ridge range in a lunch for two to the value of $150. (You might even spot a wedge-tailed eagle soaring over the vines!)
A personal vineyard tour and tasting
To start off your cool climate vineyard experiences, enjoy a personal visit and tour of Tamar Ridge's Kayena Vineyard. Talk to the wine-maker, taste their wines and get the inside information on how their award-winning wines are made.
Plenty to sip, savour and discover
There’s plenty to sip with around 20 boutique vineyards on the wine route, some well known and others with wine only sold at the cellar door, and plenty to savour with restaurants and cafes specialising in local, fresh produce. It's wine and food lover’s paradise.
And if you have any time left over or want to do add something extra into your days, then there's the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre, an interesting look at a time when computers didn't exist and hard labour and basic machinery were used to hunt for gold.
Other delights can be found at Bridestowe Lavender Estate and The Design Centre or perhaps a treetop adventure at Hollybank Treetops. If you feel like some fresh air and a hit of golf, then visit Barnbougle Dunes, Australia's number one public golf links course.
