Just a few kilometres out of Launceston in Northern Tasmania is Josefy Chromy's vineyard, the latest successful venture from the man who developed some of the most recognisable wine names in the state including Heemskerk, Jansz and Tamar Ridge (now all sold).
His latest state of the art winery produces the fine award-winning wines that complement the best fresh, locally sourced produce used by the Cellar Door Cafe.
Chef Stuart Mullan develops his menus with the Josef Chromy wine range in mind and at times develops a specific dish to showcase one of their varieties. The unique Tasmanian a la carte menu is complemented by daily specials and there's also Josef's Tasting Plate served on a specially designed board with four dishes matched to four wines.
Stuart's recipes in the Vineyard Cookbook are open lasagne of Tasmanian scallops, mussels and prawns and a delicious frittata recipe with local cheese and fresh vegetables. Enough to get your mouth watering perhaps?
