Tasmania is renowned for its wine, food and natural wonder and has also earnt a global reputation for spirits, the drinking kind that is. In 1992, Bill Lark successfully challenged an 1880s ban on distilling and he thereafter became known as the godfather of Tasmanian whisky.

Bill writes the foreword in the new book that explores both the distilling days of the past and the world-class whiskies of today, Tasmanian Whisky: The Devil's Share by Bernard Lloyd.

We have a copy of this brand new book to be won!

To make whisky you need many things and Tasmania has these in abundance. Native peats and barley strains, pristine water and the creativity and innovation that comes so naturally to an island people. To the distillers with their distinctive products add the expertise of farmers, scientists, coopers, coppersmiths, brewers and even brand ambassadors. All combine to take Tasmanian whisky to the world where it is winning acclaim.

Bernard Lloyd travelled across and around the state, visiting every distillery and getting to know not just the whisky itself but the spirit of the maker as well – hard work we know!

Tasmanian Whisky: The Devil's Share is a comprehensive book covering the all important tasting notes, history dating back to the 1800s with some colourful tales of distillers past and for anyone not lucky enough to call Tasmania home, there's a very handy Australia-wide section on where to try and buy the whisky.

Enter now and you could be taken on a spirited journey around the island state!
