The raffle has now been drawn and the WINNERS CAN BE VIEWED HERE »

We are happy to announce that the total amount raised in the Wine Trade Flood and Cyclone Relief Raffle was almost A$277,000, with approx $194,000 going to the Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Fund and $83,000 to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Flood Appeal.

This raffle was jointly organised and operated by VisitVineyards.com and Tyson Stelzer of WinePress.

Thanks to all donors and everyone for your support, and especially to Kirstie Bedford of KDJM Communications in Melbourne for (free) PR and marketing services, FastWay Couriers for free delivery of all wine prizes, the ANZ Bank, eWay, and Wise, Lord and Ferguson for accounting services.

VisitVineyards.com sold 8,499 tickets (A$254,970) – over ten times the amount we raised in the Victorian bushfire appeal – and our costs were only 1.3% of the total.

The biggest fund raising effort of the Australian wine industry

Launched by Brisbane-based wine writer Tyson Stelzer and his team at WinePress together with the team here at VisitVineyards.com, the Wine Flood Relief Raffle aims to raise $$$ to directly assist people in need after the recent natural disasters in Australia: the Queensland and NSW floods, Cyclone Yasi in Far North Queensland, and the Victorian floods*.

We believe this is the largest fund-raising event in the history of the Australian wine industry.

In an enormous act of generosity and community spirit shown by the wine industry, over 300 vineyards and wineries and related businesses – including several who have themselves lost their entire year's vintage  have in under 3 weeks donated over A$240,000 worth of wine and related products to raise funds to directly assist those affected.

Wine has been contributed from almost every corner of Australia, with donations also coming from France and New Zealand.

As well as the money being raised, it's a clear demonstration to those affected that Australia cares. And now it's time to turn these generous donations into cash for those affected.

200 incredible prizes:

The prize list is almost unbelievable – representing a veritable who's who of Australian wine – and includes some amazing wines and stories. Seppeltsfield have delved into their cellars and have offered four 100ml bottles of Seppeltsfield Para Vintage Tawny commemorating the Queensland floods: vintages 1893, 1916, 1974 and 2011, a never-seen-before, history-making quartet.

From magnums of Penfolds Grange and Larmandier–Bernier Terr de Vertus 1er Cru Champagne, jereboams, dozens and half dozens of cult and iconic wines such as Duck Muck shiraz, Bindi, Paringa Estate, Lakes Folly, Mount Mary, Moss Wood and hundreds more, vineyard lunches in the Adelaide Hills, to books and memberships, the 31 page prize list (downloadable here in pdf) is a sight that will surely have any wine lover swooning.

Orlando have topped the winery pool with the donation of a weekend for four in the Barossa Valley, including accommodation for two nights at the historic Jacob's Estate cottages, lunch for four at the Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre, a tour of the Steingarten Vineyard, structured wine tasting, return flights to Adelaide from any capital city within Australia and a hire car for two days, plus six bottles each of Orlando St Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon and Orlando Centenary Hill Shiraz, valued at A$5000.

As a  first prize winner you can enjoy this holiday whilst contemplating your winnings; also included is six months' of free wine storage from Kennards in NSW.

There are 200 prizes in total, the minimum value of which is A$500.

With a maximum of 40,000 tickets on sale, your chances of enjoying some great Australian and other wines are high. But don't delay please, the draw is on 11th March.

Wine investors worldwide should take note too – many of these wines are very rare and collectable.

Where your money will go:

Funds raised will be divided according to need between the Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Fund, and the Red Cross of Victoria, whom we are informed are also administering relief aid to affected areas of NSW.

The contributions made to these funds is net of any costs specified below.

* Should the Red Cross also extend their aid to the recent bushfire victims in WA, these will be included too – as this disaster occurred after raffle tickets were printed we can't include them directly.

Thank you for contributing to those affected by Australia's recent natural disasters

Both the teams at WinePress and at VisitVineyards.com have contributed an enormous amount of time and effort, as has Kirstie Bedford of KDJM Communications, to organise and promote this fund raising raffle in just three weeks.

It is our joint aim to raise over A$1,000,000 and to make this the largest charity fundraiser in the history of the Australian wine industry. Please help us to achieve that goal and to assist those who have been so badly affected by the recent floods and cyclone.

Together with our supporters the ANZ bank, eWay and the RACQ, we thank you for supporting the survivors of these disasters in their recovery, and wish you good luck.

Robyn Lewis, VisitVineyards.com and Tyson Stelzer, WinePress.

PS If you want to see what it's been like for some, take a look at this video. The damage may be appalling, but the Australian spirit lives on. Show them all that we care – and as the song says, don't hold back when you buy your tickets please.

The above video was put together by Peter Jones, Jones Air, of the flood-affected wine and table grape harvest at David and Alison Blacket’s Riversands Wines, St George, Queensland.
