iPhone app frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Some answers to your queries
1. Do I need a mobile connection to access the VisitVineyards app data?
To provide the best experience to you, and to ensure that you always have access to the latest information and exclusive offers, the VisitVineyards iPhone® app requires an active data connection via your mobile service provider.
Please note, the VisitVineyards app does not load information on wineries, restaurants etc offline or when you are not in an area covered by mobile reception. (It is intended that a future version of this app will have the capacity to store some regional data for later use when you are out of range, or in flight mode etc). Please ensure that you check the app before you go into an area where there may be no mobile coverage, to avoid disappointment.
Please be aware that data (roaming) charges may apply, and you may need to check with your mobile service provider (carrier) as VisitVineyards cannot be held liable for any charges incurred for using the app when in an area outside your regular coverage.
2. Where is the information coming from?
The information in the VisitVineyards iPhone app is drawn from two sources. All winery data (approx 5000 listings), most of the food data and many events (especially wine and food) comes from VisitVineyards.com's own extensive database, which is the largest wine and food database in Australia. A percentage of this is provided and maintained by the producers themselves. We moderate this data, but whilst all care is taken, we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy, or complete lack of spelling, grammatical or other errors.
The balance of the data, including most accommodation, some events, etc comes from a government-established website called ATDW (Australian Tourism Data Warehouse) which is operated collaboratively by the State tourism authorities. We, and all other website operators, are encouraged by Tourism Australia and the State authorities to use ATDW data and not to duplicate it. We cannot edit or correct it.
Unfortunately, not all of it is up-to-date, event dates may be missing, and it may contain spelling errors, display ?s instead of apostrophes, and other faults, over which we have no control. We apologise if this causes an inconvenience, and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of this externally sourced data. Contrary to a claim made on iTunes, none of our data is 'skimmed' from other websites (although perhaps they skim ours!).
Should you visit a business listed and find it has changed ownership or operating hours, has new products or labels, has gone out of operation or relocated, please contact us with these details and we will either update our own database (if our listing) or forward this information onto ATDW and/or the relevant organisation to update their records.

- Tap the Home button once (the Home button is the main button located towards the bottom of your iPhone below the screen)
- Then double tap the Home button (you should see the screen scroll upwards)
- A row of icons will appear at the bottom of your iPhone's screen; this shows all the apps currently running on your device. Locate and hold the VisitVineyards app icon at the bottom until a "-" sign appears in the top left of the icon
- Tap the VV icon once again until it disappears (this shuts the app down)
- Tap the Home button twice again (the screen will scroll downwards)
- Find and select the VisitVineyards app button from where you placed it on your dashboard, and tap it to start it again. (You should see a "Please wait".. message). The app will now be restarted.
