That’s where new cookbook It’s all about the food not the fork! 107 easy to eat meals in a mouthful comes in. From the authors of the successful Don’t give me eggs that bounce, this new cookbook is full of appetising smaller meals that can be eaten with your hands – no cutlery required!

After the runaway success of Don’t give me eggs that bounce (HammondCare Media 2014) the authors are continuing their mission to bring amazing food to older people and people with eating difficulties, through another beautifully designed cookbook which combines 107 recipes from Peter Morgan-Jones and several expert chapters on nutrition, mealtimes and eating from his fellow authors.

It includes a celebrity guest recipe from Australian food icon, Maggie Beer, who also writes the foreword, and another from one of America’s best-loved food writers, Paula Wolfert, who now lives with Alzheimer’s and recently shot a documentary with Peter Morgan-Jones.

And while the meals are specially designed for people who can no longer use cutlery or who have swallowing difficulties, the snacks and light meals will delight anyone enjoys the casual fun and convenience of food on the go which is good for you as well!

In her foreword to It’s all about the food not the fork, Maggie Beer praises Peter Morgan-Jones for his “knowledge of food and technique and ability to think outside the square, aligned with a passion for flavour and a real empathy with people… I could never have foretold just what an amazing catalyst for change Peter would become.”

Maggie Beer launched It’s all about the food not the fork! at the Sydney Hilton on June 17 and she then joined Peter Morgan-Jones in an interactive food session at the Grand Designs conference being held that day. It featured the premier of short documentary with Peter Morgan-Jones and Paula Wolfert cooking in her kitchen in Sonoma, and discussing food and dementia.

Chef Damien Pignolet says "Peter’s sensitive insight into the creation of joyful food for our aged community is a triumph throughout these pages.

 

About the authors

Peter Morgan Jones is Food Ambassador and Executive Chef at HammondCare, where it is his role to inspire and maintain a rich and vibrant food culture. He has a long global career as a successful chef, including with the Royal Family.

Lisa Greedy is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian working as a HammondCare residential aged care dietitian. She has also worked in consultation with the Dementia Centre. Her major interests include dementia, nutrition, food service, menu design and small group education.

Prudence Ellis is a Senior Speech Pathologist at HammondCare’s Greenwich and Neringah Hospitals. She works with adults in aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation,and oncology rehabilitation. Prudence also has experience in residential aged care, and within the community.

Danielle McIntosh is a Senior Dementia Consultant with the Dementia Centre, HammondCare. She is an Occupational Therapist and has considerable experience working with adults with cognitive and neurological disorders.
