The NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show started with a few friends deciding it would be a great idea to celebrate local wines. The then named Golden West Wine Fest started back in 1992 with just 13 wineries entering 81 wines from the Forbes, Orange and Cowra regions. Since that first year over 8,000 wines have been tasted and judged from all over NSW.
This now annual event is held in Forbes a small town in the middle of NSW. The wine show is a not for profit organisation and donates each year to local charities with over $8,500 donated to worthy causes around Forbes in the past few years.
A small winemaker is one who by the competition rules produce wine from no more than 500 tonnes of grapes per year
Judging takes place from Monday the 22nd of August and a public tasting will be held on Friday the 26th August 2011.
