National park offering bushwalking, mountain bike riding and picnicking located near Cessnock. Werakata National park is located within one of the largest patch of remnant vegetation on the floor of the Hunter Valley. Picnic tables are located at Astills Picnic Area off Lomas Lane. Short walks including Astills Trail (Two kilometre loop) and Kurri Sands Swamp Woodland Walk ( Two kilometre return).
