The Games are a gathering of bands, clans, dancers, heavy events competitors, state, interstate and local tug-of-war teams, Scottish and Celtic stall holders from Sydney and regional New South Wales and interstate to celebrate the Scottish history of the Upper Hunter. It is the final event of Scottish Australia Heritage Council's Heritage Week
The games, on the first Saturday of July each year, involve some 23 events take place at Jefferson Park, Aberdeen. There are stalls providing food and Scottish displays. Such displays represent traditional Scottish culture and recreation. On the Saturday evening a ceilidh is held at the local high school and on the Sunday morning the traditional Kirkin of the Tartan takes place at St Mark\'s church.
The next Aberdeen Highland Games commences on Saturday, 7 July 2012 and promises to be better than ever. Open Time: 8.30am to 4.30pm
