Smithtown is a village 16 kilometres north east of Kempsey. Smithtown is on the western side of the Macleay River and travellers can join up with Tourist Drive 12 from Smithtown to go to either South West Rocks or south to Crescent Head.
You can step back in time and do a historic footpath walk around the township of Smithtown which was land previously leased in 1840 to Major Henry Oakes the first Commissioner for Crown Land on the Macleay. Milo is made at Nestlé in Smithtown.
