At the foot of Mount Canobolas is a large tranquil lake which provides a range of activities with the changing of the seasons.
Features of Lake Canobolas area include picnic and barbecue facilities, large playgrounds, sailing boats and canoeing on the lake, swimming and fishing.
On the eastern side of the lake is the Old Pumphouse which has been restored to near original condition after being disused for over 60 years. Lake Canobolas, previously known as Meadow Creek Reservoir, was constructed in 1918 to supply water to Orange. The Pumphouse transported the water from the reservoir to Orange. A walking track meanders around the lake and is a haven for native birds and other wildlife such as the echidna.
The Pumphouse is open daily between 9am and 3pm or by appointment.
