Whitton Courthouse and Gaol, built in 1890 was last used as a Court of Petty Sessions in 1975. Two years later it was handed over to a Public Committee for redevelopment as a museum. The museum was officially opened in 1988 and has since had unique historic memorabilia and restored buildings such as the restored Railway Station and butcher's shop added to it.
