Fern Gully Winery produces small quantities of award winning premium dry table wines - Chardonnay, Rose`, Shiraz, Chambourcin, Noble Dessert wine and Vintage Port. All wines are made using only grapes grown and hand picked from their vineyard. Vines were planted in 1996 and 1997, with their first wines made in 1998. Tannat was planted in 2010.
The cellar door sales and tasting area is inside the working winery. Visitors enjoy pleasant sensory aromas of maturing wine, can see and touch the equipment, and Max the winemaker will happily share his knowledge of the winemaking process. Vineyard and winery tours available.
The south coast has a maritime climate resulting in a long ripening season which enhances flavour development.
Wines are made using the best of both traditional and modern winemaking practices, including the use of refrigerated open fermentation vats, basket press and maturation in French oak barriques.
