Otto Ristorante which opened, in Woolloomooloo, in March 2000 has the ability to reinvent the flavours of Italy in stylish new forms and has attracted acclaim both internationally and locally. With amazing service and some of Sydney's best Modern Italian cuisine, Otto is at the forefront of Australian dining.
Head Chef Richard Ptacnik has a keen sense of Italian cuisine even though he hails from the Czech Republic. Richard began his career in Prague working with Zdenek Pohlreich at the Radisson SAS Hotel. After stints in both Germany and Switzerland, Richard headed to Australia where he worked briefly with Jock Zonfrillo before joining the ranks at Otto Ristorante. He quickly moved up to the role of James Kidman's Sous Chef and has spent the last 5 years working with James to continually evolve the food.
Otto Ristorante's harbour-side location, modern Italian cuisine, and smart, alfresco dining are the inspiration for Otto Ristorante's wine list. Sommelier, Patrick White, draws on over sixteen years of hospitality experience and a deep-seated passion for all things vinous to craft a constantly evolving wine selection chosen to complement Chef Richard Ptacnik's food and enhance the Otto Ristorante experience.
Being an Italian restaurant in an Antipodean setting, Otto Ristorante's list is primarily Australian, with a healthy lick of Latin flair. Otto Ristorante offers an extensive and comprehensive selection from Australia and New Zealand's finest boutique producers alongside hand-picked, high quality examples of Italy's great wine styles.
With a climate controlled cellar; a generous and ever changing choice of wines available by the glass; and expert guidance at hand, you can be assured of finding a wine to suit the occasion, served in the pristine condition that the winemaker intended.
Otto Ristorante can also cater for a variety of functions and special events with rooms that suit groups of 14 to 150.
