There is strength of character and determination about the German-born Giesen brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel who made the bold leap to make wine in New Zealand in 1981.

Over the last 30 years they established 700 acres of vineyards in Marlborough’s highly sought after Wairau Valley, making wines that people want to drink.

Their determination to make wines people love has driven international recognition for Marlborough and its sauvignon blanc. Not content to sit back, they continue to grow Giesen. In 2001 they moved their winery to Marlborough and it has expanded every year since.

Wines under the Giesen label include: their flagship, The August; The Brothers range: sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, chardonnay and riesling; and The Estate range which includes their sauvignon blanc, Giesen’s remarkably refreshing, unfailingly consistent, eminently drinkable white wine, chardonnay, riesling, pinot gris, merlot and pinot noir.
