For lovers of water sports, Somerset Dam is the place to make a splash. Approximately one hour from Brisbane in Kilcoy Shire- and neatly cradled and protected by a ring of surrounding hills – conditions here are perfect for water skiing, wake-boarding, sailing and fishing.
Somerset Dam has a serious role to play in Brisbane - it is one of the city's most important water catchments. But on any given day, when there are boats aplenty zooming up and down the dam just having fun, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone taking anything seriously at all.
There are excellent camping and boat ramp facilities available.
