Lights of Lobethal is a well managed community event, unique to South Australia, which is assisted greatly by ETSA Utilities as the Major Sponsor.
Each year approximately 800 homes are decorated in lights of many different designs and complexities, which illuminate the town and valley. Each household designs their own display and supplies and pays for their own power.
The Festival begins with Carols in the Valley at 7pm on Sunday at the Lutheran Church in the Main Street, followed by the Opening Ceremony conducted in the amphitheatre at the front of the Church at 8.30pm. This year a special guest will perform the opening ceremony, and then there is the countdown to 9pm with a fireworks display, which heralds the Switching On of the lights.
Other special attractions include the Living Nativity and the Christmas Tree Festival. The culmination of these events is the Lobethal Christmas Pageant.
