Bordering St Vincent's Gulf, 40 kilometres south of Adelaide, Amery Vineyards grace the rolling foothills of the southern Mount Lofty Ranges.
Established in 1890 by Australian born Herbert and Frederick Kay the heritage listed Kays Amery Winery is the oldest McLaren Vale winery still in founding family hands with third generation Colin Kay continuing the family tradition.
The cellars are located at the top of a hill and the cellar door, which is part of the original winery complex, boasts some stunning panoramic views. If they put deckchairs there no one would ever leave.
The welcome at the cellar door is as friendly as the view is seductive, so allow plenty of time to taste the renowned selection of premium estate wines and explore the family diaries dating from 1891.
