Chris De Rosa (printmaker) and Gerry Wedd (potter) are artists living on the south coast at Port Elliot. Both have established practices and exhibit their work both nationally and internationally. For this show they will each be presenting a selection of recent work.
Chris De Rosa's recent work started by collecting seaweed from local beaches on the basis of its 'rich and strange' ness. She begins the work process by playing with scanned images of the seaweed on the computer as potential motifs for repeat pattern making. The scanned images are then manipulated and turned into printing plates. The weed images are overlaid onto scanned images of used domestic lino which already exhibits layers of the history of its use. These richly overlaid images become the prints.
Gerry Wedd's works range from domestic decorated pots to whimsical wall pieces featuring images borrowed from the Willow Pattern which attempt to turn the old ‘ducks on the wall' idea on its head.
