A chardonnay from the Padthaway region of South Australia has won Virgin Wines UK (part of the Branson empire) 2008 Best White Wine of the Year, beating a range of international wines.

The wine is sold in the UK under the Blackfoot Daisy label, and is made by Steve Grimley of Albacore Vinterns, who are based in the McLaren Vale wine region of South Australia. Steve specialises in 'single vineyard' wines and also makes Loom Wine, Soaring Kite, Albacore, Dawsons Estate and Woolundry Road.

The award is based on consumer feedback and the wine is described as being "juicy and peachy".
