The Mount Hurtle winery first built in 1897 by Mostyn Owen is a heritage-listed building. Painstakingly restored to its former glory by Geoff Merrill in the mid eighties, the winery and surrounds have retained their almost Tuscan charm and cope with the rigors of modern day winemaking.
Surrounded by the Pimpala vineyard, which is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the grounds of the winery are home to a large family of ducks, geese and swans.
The Mount Hurtle experience is an opportunity to visit a small part of South Australia's winemaking heritage and to sample the world-class wines of Geoff Merrill.
