The original 19th century Enterprise Brewery building is located on the grounds of the multi-award winning Knapstein Winery in the Clare Valley, South Australia. The major landmark of the Clare township has had its brewing heritage restored with the opening of the fully functioning microbrewey.
Knappstein offers a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the talents of the winemaker and brewer working hand in hand. The cellar door and brewery are housed in the historic 1878 Enterprise Brewery, a gorgeous sandstone building, which was revived for its original purpose in 2006. Well known brewmaster, Chuck Hahn consulted on the installation of the striking copper brewhouse in a former wine storeroom.
Knappstein Enterprise Reserve Lager with its classy wrap around label featuring brewer's notes was the first Australian beer to be named after a high profile wine brand. Working with winelike focus to achieve perfect balance of flavours and structure, the result is a highly acclaimed craft beer; crisp, clean and intense in flavour.
Visitors can walk through the brewery and on brewing days stop for a chat with the brewer, Anthony Clem about his beer making philosophy. The cellar door is open seven days a week.
