Karanto Vineyards is a 44 hectare vineyard located south of Langhorne Creek on the western edge of the Bremer River Floodplains. The property was purchased by PR Dodd in 1910, named Karanto and developed into a mixed horticultural enterprise which in addition to wine grapes produced at various times currants, apricots, peaches, almonds and figs and also ran a small dairy.
Two of PR's sons, Edric and Ian Dodd took over in the 1960's and it has now passed to the third generation with PR's grand daughter Zonda and her husband Dennis Elliott running the property since 1979.
Karanto is now focussed almost exclusively on producing premium wine grapes for major wine companies and in recent years for small batches of premium wine.
