Tasting Notes - Karra Yerta (SA)
From high in the Flaxmans Valley area of Barossa Hills
The Eden Valley region is famous for its riesling and Karra Yerta produces a fine example. Perched in the hills of Flaxmans Valley, this boutique vineyard is set in a pristine environment which adds its own characteristics to the wine.
Karra refers to the redgums in the local indigenous language whilst Yerta refers to country or ground which makes this vineyard very aptly named. Along with the surroundings, the higher altitiude creates a slightly longer maturing period which means the grapes can take on more flavour and body.
Karra Yerta Wines 2007 Eden Valley Riesling
This riesling was made by Peter Gajewski of Rocland Winery from 85+ year old dry-grown, hand-picked grapes which are situated a mere few hundred metres to the west of the famous Ringland 'Three Rivers' vineyard in the premium area of the Barossa Ranges.
With crisp acid, notes of lemon and lime, white peach and honeydew, this wine will age very well.
Screwcap.
