Close to McLaren Vale, the Southern Fleurieu includes places like Yankalilla, Mount Jagged, Hindmarsh Valley and Victor Harbor. You'll find excellent Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a few other surprises.
Local hotels and restaurants have a reputation for great food.
Try Victor Harbor Winery. Its veranda is a lovely spot to have a tipple, maybe a cheese platter? The Mont Rosa restaurant at the winery will satisfy a larger appetite!
The Square Waterhole has a great pizza menu. It's open weekends and public holidays, though it's a good idea to phone ahead.
Parri Estate will welcome you to their cellar door. They've also got one in McLaren Vale. You'll receive friendly commentary on their delicious wines.
Mount Jagged will give you a taste or two of their lovely wine. You might also be tempted by local food available at the cellar door.
Minko Wines cellar door is a quaint cottage. It's a great setting for the wholesome meals they'll serve you.
On weekends, step out onto the verandah at Carrickalinga Creek Vineyard and Cellar Door. Enjoy views of Gulf St Vincent.
