Angus Wines is located on Hindmarsh Island, in South Australia's Southern Fleurieu.
Angus Wines is a small family run wine business in the Fleurieu region of South Australia, and gained international recognition for its distinctive, world class, award-winning wines. The company's Sturt Ridge Vineyard and cellar door facilities were located on Hindmarsh Island, adjacent to the picturesque and historic River Port of Goolwa, near the mouth of the Murray River. Susan and Alistair Angus purchased the property in 1988 and many were cynical when they established a vineyard in 1995. But, as the years went by and the fruits of their labour became apparent, scepticism was replaced with respect. Angus Wines grew from a small first vintage, shared amongst family and friends, to a fully commercial enterprise - with hand picked and hand-crafted wines of outstanding quality and deserving praise
Sadly, only one small area is going to be retained and the reminder of the vines, the first of which were planted in 1992, are being pulled from the ground (2008).
