The Harmony Hill Wellness and Organic Spa Retreat in southern Tasmania has opened its doors.

The $1.2 million retreat is designed to heal people inside and out, with Detox, Relax and Re-Vibe packages. It features five spa treatment rooms as well as two double spa accommodation cottages.

Owners Ami Nakamura and Alfred Merse said the retreat will specialise in iridology, kinesiology, Ayurvedic medicine, chi energy healing, lymphatic drainage and nutrition.

“This is not a traditional hotel/resort spa. Instead we focus on alternative therapies to offer a holistic health experience,” Ami said.

“Our facial and body spa treatments use natural therapy techniques such as lymphatic massage, organic spa detox treatments and Shiatsu facial and scalp treatments to relax the brain and maintain the body’s metabolism.

“We have also developed a new body treatment using dry herbs and hot stones. Tasmanian stones are warmed and placed strategically to send rays into the body, then medicinal herbs are placed underneath the stones so the heat soaks the medicine into the body.”

Products used within the spa will be 100% Australian Certified Organic Harmony Harvest skin and remedial products, made by Ami on-site in their factory.

Harmony Harvest captures the essence of nature by using organic ingredients and we do not use chemicals for the extraction of ingredients and nutrients,” Ami said.

“We do not use water in our products, only certified organic liquids. We also use many of the traditional ways to preserve products, such as salt, spice and organic alcohol.”

Harmony Hill is set on 42 acres of pristine wilderness on top of a mountain in Margate, just 25 minutes’ drive from Hobart.

The spa was designed by Ami using Hexagon Feng Shui principals.

“All buildings are designed in multiples of three metres. This shape replicates the Indian Mandala temples, with similar design principles also used in Japan and China,” she said.

“This shape collects cosmos energy and connects with the Earth’s energy field to create a strong purifying and healing energy field.”

The spa uses solar energy, rain water collection, and its own wetland to purify grey water and recycle. Harmony Harvest’s own organic products are used in baths and housekeeping. All towels, robes, sheets and staff uniforms are made from organic materials.

Ami’s aim is to use Harmony Hill as a prototype for franchising throughout the world.

“This concept spa will offer an all-in-one franchisee business including professional training, all organic products, spa menus, fittings, eco-building materials and equipment,” she said.

Harmony Hill offers a full service package including hotel/airport pick-up and return, specially tailored treatment programs, special spa cuisine menus and use of all spa facilities.
