Geraldine Cottage (c.1839) is a two-bedroom convict brick cottage at Richmond, 20 minutes from Hobart.
Geraldine Cottage has two sitting/lounge rooms, a large sunny dining room and a fully equipped kitchen, including microwave and dishwasher. Breakfast provisions are provided, along with complimentary port and chocolates. The cottage has a beautiful garden to relax in and a play area for the enjoyment of the children.
During the 1890's the cottage became known as the ‘Heaven and Hell' Dame School where Mrs. Fitzsimmons taught the catholic children in one room and the protestant children in another room.
Located in a quite street just 300 metres from the historic convict built Richmond Bridge and in easy walking distance of Richmond Village, and Australia's oldest Roman Catholic Church, St. Johns.
In the village there's plenty to do; visit the Richmond Gaol, the oldest in tact gaol in Australia, get lost in the Richmond Maze, explore the Old Hobart Town Model Village, check out the galleries and crafts, do some wine tasting in the village or at some of the local vineyards, and maybe take a ghost toue evening. There are a range of cafés, restaurants and eateries to choose from.
