Puddleduck is a small family-owned vineyard in southern Tasmania's Coal River Valley. Visiting their cellar door is like catching up with old friends for a wine and cheese tasting. The wines are hand-crafted in small quantities, ensuring their renowned quality is maintained.

 Puddleduck Sauvignon Blanc ’09 -  A$28

A rich style, combining passionfruit and tropical fruits with a citrussy tingle on the finish. Ideal to partner with meals containing asparagus, chicken, fish and seafood, lemon flavoured dishes, or pasta served with light cream or seafood sauces. A great wine suitable for most occasions.

Puddleduck Chardonnay ’09 - A$32

Their last chardonnay picked up a gold at the Tasmanian wine show and they're confident this one is as good if not better!  Six months in French oak barriques imparts a hint of vanilla, while the fresh fruit flavours of peach and nectarine combine for a long lingering finish. Jackie’s favourite!

Bazil Sweet Riesling ’09 - A$26

Made with the sweeter tooths in mind – this “winemaker’s best friend” sweet riesling has a beautiful fragrant nose of lime blossom with a sweet palate yet clean finish. Ideal for foods with a touch of spiciness such as Chinese, Thai and curries, or try with a cheese platter incorporating blue cheese and an aged cheddar

Puddleduck Pinot Noir ’08 - A$42

The new Pinot is a fuller bodied wine compared to the 2007 – due mostly to the extra work put into its creation in the vineyard by Darren. Usually they crop at around 7 - 8 tonnes per hectare but in 2008 they cropped at closer to 4.5 tonnes. With the lower yields comes extra concentration of colour and flavour which combine to creating a stunning wine. Great with a wide range of foods such as poultry, pasta, pork, lamb, and dishes with mushrooms. Cellar for 5 - 7 years if you wish.

Puddleduck Cabernet Sauvignon ‘07 - A$38

This fruit driven cabernet sauvignon was produced from fruit sourced further inland on a site perfect for ripening this variety in the Coal River Valley. Big silky tannins from 14 months spent in French oak barriques, a heady mix of spice and sweet fruit flavours mingle to create a sophisticated and complex wine. More delicate than its bigger mainland counterparts this wine will complement a meal combining char grilled meats. Although youthful at the moment this wine will age beautifully over the next 5 - 8 years.

Muddleduck Sparkling Merlot ’08                Per Bottle $42

This fine-feathered Puddleduck Muddleduck has been hand-crafted from 100% Merlot grapes nurtured and grown in the Coal River Valley. Fermented in this bottle and on lees for 14 months, using traditional methods, our sparkling merlot also spent a few months in French Oak barriques to add extra complexity.Sweet spice mixed with luscious mulberry, and current aromas and a clean zesty finish creates a lovely refreshing wine particularly suited to compliment meats such as chicken, turkey, ham and pork.

Puddleduck Verjuice ’10 - A$22

Made from the juice of two thirds ripe grapes, the Puddleduck verjuice is made firstly as a refreshing non alcoholic beverage (pour over ice and top up with soda) or it can be used in it’s more traditional use - cooking. Highly versatile it can be used in place of lemon juice or vinegar for a more subtle food friendly flavour as it doesn’t mask the flavour of the food it is added to. Use for salad dressings, marinades, poaching fish and chicken, and pouring over fruit salad.
