Historically the National Trust in Tasmania has produced a programme of events each year 1985 - 1995 for the National Trust Heritage Week, changing in 1995 to became what is now known as the Tasmanian Heritage Festival with a state-wide program of events.
The Tasmanian Heritage Festival has continued to grow seeing 103 events registered in 2009 by historical societies, libraries, schools, government departments, and the private and corporate sector and National Trust properties participating.
The statewide Festival is the largest celebration of Tasmanias cultural heritage.
