Woodbridge Smokehouse produces some of the finest smoked seafood in the world and now international and local visitors can enjoy the traditionally-smoked Ocean Trout and Atlantic Salmon straight from the pristine waters of Tasmania’s coast at a new Taste House just south of Hobart.

The Woodbridge Smokehouse is set on a 25 acre apple orchard half an hour south-east of Hobart. Traditional hand-smoking processes using a mixture of local hard woods (including the apple orchard shavings) create the delicate and distinctive flavours for which Woodbridge Smokehouse have become globally renowned. 

Foodies are warmly invited to discover the unique craftsmanship for themselves by dropping into the tasting room to sample the award winning fare.

The Taste House is open daily 10am - 4pm, 12pm – 4pm on Saturdays, and by appointment on Sundays.

The setting – with its stunning water views - provides an irresistible backdrop to a tasting table with such luxuriant products including the new salmon spread with lemon and crackers. And if you don’t want to take your products with you, you can always use the free wifi, order online and ask to have them deliver your selection right to your front door.

On Thursday and Friday there is a ‘Go behind the Production’ tour (for groups of 4-8 with bookings essential) to reveal the finer details of the purpose-built smokehouse and processing facility. Guests will see how the small team with over 75 year experience between them follow long established traditions to fillet, brine, smoke, and hand slice the fish, for serving at the tables of the world.

Tours last approximately 1 hour and cost $45.00 per person including tasting samples.

The Woodbridge Smokehouse team and their award winning product is also available at Salamanca Markets each Saturday between 8am – 3pm at stall 185.
