Sharmans make a sparkling wine called a Noble Late Harvest

Sharmans make a sparkling wine called a Noble Late Harvest

Mike and Phillipa Sharman have the best of both worlds; a home and working vineyard in a beautiful rural setting, with the shops of Launceston’s CBD just fifteen minutes away. Sharmans is at Relbia, midway between Launceston and its airport and just five minutes from the highway which connects to Hobart in the south and Devonport and Burnie in the north-west.

From the tasting room window you can see five varieties of grapes ripening along the hillside, before trying their most recent vintages while Mike explains the vagaries of his various pinot clones. Once Philippa has waved you off on a stroll through the vineyard, you may be lucky enough to spot the resident wedgetail eagle squatting on a post at the edge of the property.
