The Nant Distilleryis situated on the historic National Trust listed Nant Estate (circa 1821) in the central highlands of Tasmania.
The Nant Disitillery is a rare farm based whisky distillery. At the centre of the distillery complex is the Old Mill built on the estate in 1823 and still used today for gristing barley to make their single malt whisky. The whisky is made from 100% Tasmanian brewer’s barley and water sourced from the central highland lakes from the River Clyde.
It is from these local ingredients that Nant Whisky this year achieved a 95.5 rating in whisky writer and critic Jim Murray’s highly prestigious 2012 Whisky Bible.
Experience the newly opened and delightful Nant Cellar Door cafe, proudly featuring their own home grown estate fresh produce, topped with Tasmania’s finest culinary samples.
Perhaps start with the spicy smoky seafood chowder with locally caught trout smoked here at Nant and served with crusty Huron Valley bread.
Diners can then move onto the Lamb Cassoulet withasted Nicola potatoes or Beef Bourgogne. The lamb and beef are from the Suffolk sheep and Black Angus cattle farmed on the estate.
The Nant Cellar Cafe is open Thursday to Sunday from 10am – 4pm. Tours are available at 11am or 2:30pm. Lunch is available from 11am to 2pm. Please note; menu is subject to change due to seasons and availability.
