Yondover Farmhouse Cheesery, 30 minutes north of Launceston, offers a traditional farm house cheese experience.
The Cheesery is set high on a hill and has been designed to ensure you can sit back and enjoy your cheese and wine, while taking in the rural landscape of rolling green valleys and distant mountain range views. At the Cheesery you can sample cheeses and locally made wines or if you are after something more substantial, you can select from an array of cheese platters which you can enjoy with a glass of locally grown wine or freshly made coffee or tea. Each cheese platter includes a selection of cheese, and an array of selected preserves and accompaniments designed to match the cheese. Visitors may also feed and pat a goat, or watch the goats being milked. You may even get to see the cheese maker at work by peeking through our viewing window.
At Yondover we grow grass, milk goats (over 300!) and make handmade cheese, drawing on traditional European farm house cheese production methods. Our cheese range includes fresh curd cheeses, surface mould ripened cheeses, and blue cheeses.
You can visit our Cheesery from 0930 to 1530, seven days a week, excluding Christmas Day.
