 Rosevears Estate 2008 Sauvignon Blanc

The 2008 vintage was dry and sunny providing early ripening of fruit in optimal condition.

The Sauvignon Blanc is bright, pale straw in colour with distinct green tinges. The nose shows an array of leafy aromatics and cool-climate fruits like kiwifruit and gooseberry, backed up by hints of lemon. The leafy aromatics also show through on the palate with some distinctive varietal herbaceous flavours on the front and middle palate.

It is light, fresh and clean with an appealing minerality and a finish that is refreshingly crisp.

Rosevears Estate 2006 Merlot

The summer of 2006 was dry and sunny but not particularly warm. Despite this fruit ripened quickly and it ended up being one of the earliest and shortest vintages on record. Fruit for this wine came from our Rosevears Vineyard in the mid-Tamar Valley. This is one of the warmest and best protected sites on the West Tamar and ideal for the ripening of Merlot. The fruit was harvested in mid April in very sound condition and optimum ripeness.

The Merlot is a deep, dense crimson red in colour with full, ripe berry and cassis fruit on the nose with some attractive fresh oak showing through. The palate is a fleshy and firmly structured style with abundant, ripe up-front fruit flavours. There are some firm tannins on the finish and sufficient acidity to balance the fruit ripeness. There is good fruit weight throughout the palate with excellent flavour persistence. The oak apparent on the nose is there but not obtrusive.

Alc/vol 14.0%

RRP A$23.90

Rosevears Estate 2008 Riesling

While much of southern Australia sweltered in 40C temperatures Tasmania escaped the worst of the heatwave. Fruit ripened well with good flavour intensity and acid balance. This allowed the fruit to be picked at lower baumé levels to produce more elegant styles with a lower level of alcohol.

The Riesling is brilliant pale lemon with a green tinge. It's nose is lively and aromatic with lime/citrus aromas, some spicy notes and a hint of minerality. Some up-front citrus fruit flavours are shown on a palate that is tight and lean with slately mineral elements. The flavours are
light and fresh and the finish shows good length and persistence of flavour while remaining crisp and refreshing.

Alc/vol 12.0%

RRP A$22.10
