Stimulate your senses with the vibrant colours and aromas of the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden.
The Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden has been developed on a 13 hectare natural amphitheatre. It includes some 22,000 select rhododendrons and companion plants in a unique landscape concept.
A central hybrid area is surrounded by a series of areas designed to represent the flora of the regions from which the wild species rhododendrons originate.
Following this design, areas developed so far include Bhutan, Sikkim, Assam, Burma, Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces of China, Japan, Taiwan and North America.
Along with the relevant species rhododendrons, are a selection of companion plants, water features, and some examples of the respective built environments.
A series of walks provide extensive opportunities to enjoy the plants, wildlife and tranquillity of this unique environment. Platypus, echidna, and diverse bird life, are routinely sighted by visitors to the garden. Other landscape features include gazebos, bridges, waterways, and a fountain.
A tearoom opens every day during the peak flowering season of October and November and on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays during other opening months.
Weekend openings are arranged during autumn to view the brilliant autumn colour from deciduous trees, as well as vireya rhododendrons.
