The Two Metre Tall Company is located in New Norfolk in Southern Tasmania.
They use Tasmanian ingredients and a bottle fermenting process to produce real ales - Forester Pale Ale, Huon Dark Ale, Derwent Clear Ale and Two Metre Tall Cleansing Ale. Real ale is defined by its traditional production with the basic difference being that yeast is still present in the container the beer is served from, be that bottle or traditional cask.
The ales are all handmade, unfiltered and feature the key aromatic ingredient (hops and fruit) sourced directly from the region that gives its name to the beer. As their project progresses, they hope to also use the water from the river source of each ale as named as well.
Apart from brewing fine ales, the property also grows cereal crops and beef cattle - the latter enjoying the spent grain from the brewing process. The mashed malt adds sheen to their coats and completes the farm-to-brewery-to-farm cycle.
Two Metre Tall Company aims to be a zero net emissions and totally carbon positive enterprise.
Ales are available at selected outlets in Tasmania, Melbourne and Adelaide or by mail order.
