Tasmania will host the XV Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships at five of the State's best trout fishing waters. The event will see 16 teams of the top fly fishing men and women from 13 countries compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. The opening ceremony and parade will be held in Deloraine on Wednesday 15 February at 1600.The parade begins at the Visitor Centre at the top of the main street in Deloraine and ends at the Soldier's Memorial at the bridge over the Meander River. On Saturday 18 February from 1230 at the Country Club Casino in Launceston there will bean Expo with demonstrations of fly casting and fly rod building (old fashioned cane rods and nets), information and displays about fly fishing in Tasmania from the sponsors of the event, and fly fishing equipment for sale. It also includes the fly tying competition by team representative which is the last formal event of the Championships.
