Tamar Ridge Wines, Tamar Valley, Tasmania
Jon Dakin
The scale of the Tamar Ridge operation will be your first impression on arrival at the biggest wine-producer in the state. Vineyards stretch into the distance in all directions, each row cleary marked with its variety, and not a cane out of place. The exemplary fruit grown here is being supplemented with grapes from vineyards recently planted or purchased in other parts of the state.
Tamar Ridge produces a wide range of cool-climate varieties which are available for tasting seven days a week. The expert tasting staff will not only fill you in on the vintage and wines you are tasting, but also tell you about the research Tamar Ridge is doing in both viticulture and winemaking, work which will benefit the whole Tasmanian industry. The aim is all about improving quality in the bottle.
