Tasmania is nature at its best – an island wrapped in perfect white beaches with an interior of spectacularly shaped mountains.

Waterfalls pour from the mountains, often through deep rainforest that's home to some of the tallest trees in the world.

Each of the 32 cards in Walks in Nature: Tasmania (a set of cards) details one of the best day hikes around this beautiful state. The selection includes some of Tasmania's most famous trails and natural features, as well as areas and walks known only to local hikers.

As Tasmania's climate and landscape vary considerably across the year, the cards are organised seasonally. Different mountain and coastal walks are curated to draw on the best of Tasmania's seasonal conditions.

There are walks that take you through the cities, and  others to remote but accessible places in Tasmania's vast wilderness.

On one side of each card, there's a clear and detailed map, whilst on the other there's a photo and information on what you'll see along the way, as well as a suggested place to stop for coffee, a light meal, or to buy some of Tasmania's famously fresh produce for a picnic.

Walks in Nature: Tasmania is a collaboration between Andrew Bain, a passionate local walker and writer, and Anna Carlile of Viola Design, a communication design company that draws inspiration from nature and encourages design that celebrates and protects the environment.

Walks in Nature: Tasmanian by Andrew Bain and Anna Carlile is published by Hardie Grant Travel/Explore Australia (Sydney, NSW; Oct 2017; 32 cards; RRP A$24.99).
