A trip to Italy is always going to revolve around food, wine, history and more than likely fashion. But it's the culture of food and wine that occupies the heart of Italy and its people, and those unforgettable aromas, flavours and textures provide some of the most memorable travel experiences.
Along with experienced tour leader, Gill Gordon Smith, celebrated Australian wine writer, Nick Stock, will host this tour through Tuscany and Piedmont, where guests will meet some of the most well-known names and personalities in Italian wine and sample some of the most exclusive and hard-to-source wines in each region.
As anyone who has visited a winery knows, the opportunity to meet the winemaker, to have a look out the back and to experience the real personality is a tremendously memorable experience and that's exactly what this exclusive tour is all about. Taking you behind the scenes and showing you the real face of Italy's world-famous wines.
And great food is never far from Italy's greatest wines. The group will be treated to superb dining each day, the highlight of which will be the 81st National White Truffle Fair of Alba. For lovers of the very best food and wine, there simply is no better time and place to be in Italy.
The Plan:
After a night in Rome on arrival, we then move up through to Tuscany and into the heart of Chianti Classico, Italy's most famous wine country, where we will base ourselves for a few days of relaxed day touring and winery visits.
From there it's a half-day journey up along the coastal route to Piedmont, in Italy's northwest, where the revered wines of Barolo and Barbaresco are produced, precious white truffles are foraged and all things gastronomic are found, including the headquarters of the Slow Food movement.
The Cost:
Land only tour hosted by Nick Stock - $10,990.00
Twin share with return business class group airfares - from $17,990.00.
Cruise option also available, departing after the land tour.
