40 Fabulous Years is this years theme. The ten day festival will be filled with activities for the whole family to enjoy. The official opening of the festival is on Wednesday 16 March 2011 at the magnificent and regal Eaglehawk Town Hall. The Spectacular Street Procession gets underway on Saturday 19 March 2011 followed by a Gala Fair in Canterbury Gardens. The Procession is always a favourite for young children and adults alike as they watch the colourful display of floats along High Street. The Gala Fair in Canterbury Park after the procession will keep the kids entertained and the adults can listen to the entertainment in the Sound Shell and enjoy some light refreshments. The Sunday Family Day will have lots of free activities for the children to enjoy. For the Art aficionados' there is an art show, for the flower lovers a wonderful flower show to wander through, a folk art display for the creative at heart to enjoy, the pet parade is a favourite for all pet lovers, and if your head is in the stars there is an astronomical event for your to see them up close and personal. The fitness fanatics amongst us can enter the half marathon road race or perhaps take part in the Cycling Criterium. The elegance of a bygone era is alive and well with the Debutante Ball. Other features this year are: Literary competition, Brass and Woodwind solo contest, Variety concert for all the up and coming entertainers, trivia night, the inaugural Youth Award and rounding off the festival are the wonderful Garden Tours where gardens lovers get to wander through some of the most beautiful local gardens.
