Multisport AlburyCity, dubbed MAC 10, attracted around 1,000 participants on the last weekend in February for the region's largest multisport event.
Staged in Albury NSW, the 2010 program included the Mars Petcare Multisport Challenge, Amy`s Ride Albury, cross country and downhill mountain biking, road racing, rogaining, hand cycling and running events.
Highlights from the weekend included Ian Franzke and Shula Webb taking out the titles for Mars Petcare Multisport Challenge with Ian Franzke labelling the victory his biggest win in more than a decade of competition. For the run events, two local distance runners, Adam Byles and Ellie O`Kane, scored a unique double by winning both the one mile dash and the 10km trail run in their respective gender classes. Meanwhile, an A-grade field fought out a thrilling race in the short-track mountain bike race on Saturday evening. An impressive line-up of riders - including Canberra`s Joe Lewis, Mount Beauty`s Neil van der Ploeg and locals Geoff Schilg, Brad Rose, Sean Moloney and Scott McPherson - locked horns for the race, which was held as part of the MAC events for the first time.
Next year promises to be even bigger, with the event hoping to draw a higher calibre of participants as well as more spectacular crowds coming to the border city for this unique and exciting event.
