This world first exhibition will be staged exclusively in Australia at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in association with Proud Galleries London and will be a celebration of the life of Freddie Mercury and one of the greatest rock bands in history, Queen.
This exhibition includes an intimate photographic portrait of legendary rock band Queen, showcasing both iconic and unseen images of Queen, with memorabilia, collectables and some of Freddie Mercury's costumes from public and private collectors in the UK, Italy and the USA with an insight into one of the world's greatest singers and rock group.
Renowned photographer Peter Hince provides a unique perspective as someone who spanned two decades as Head of Queen's Road Crew during their illustrious career. With full time access to all areas of Queen's life both on stage and off, Hince's work exposes the band's personal face as well as its public facade in a candid, often reportage manner, resulting in a unique photographic profile.
The added significance of staging this exhibition in 2010 is that it will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the formation of the legendary band 'QUEEN'.
The lead singer of Queen, the late Freddie Mercury, is highly regarded as a pre-eminent singer-songwriter and artist and his legendary music with the other members of Queen is seared into the memory and culture of many generations of Australians.
Queen - the Unseen Archive opens exclusively in Australia at the Art Gallery of Ballarat on Saturday 20 February and must close on Sunday 11 April 2010.
