The aroma of freshly baked sourdough bread, hot flavoured pies and Circi coffee is very enticing when you step into the newly opened Mernda Bakery Cafe located at 107 Schotters Road, Mernda, Victoria.
Originally built in 1892 this small boutique bakery has been reopened in Feb 2010 by Jonathan Hicks and Sue Ferguson and is now producing good old fashioned home made pies and pastries, cakes and sweets and is specializing in producing a small range of sourdough breads all cooked in the wood fired Scotch oven.
The bakery cafe is set in a delightful 19th Century period setting and has been described as Mernda's “hidden gem”. This wonderful little cafe is offering an ambience of yester year with alfresco dining available in a small private garden setting, and indoor eating provided in a small tea room which can be entered via the shop front.
