Burnt Acre Vineyard is located 4km from the township of Marong, just west of Bendigo in Victoria Goldfields, in Melbourne Surrounds. The property is just onto the northern plains, in the heart of the Bendigo Wine Region.

The vineyard was named Burnt Acre after a grassfire while harvesting in 1991, and while not a lot of damage occurred the local CFA were required to control the fire.

The Shiraz vines were planted in 1972 and the Riesling in 1982 by local farmers Duncan and Emily McKenzie, as part of their farm diversification. Cliff Stubbs & Maureen O'Connor, young and enthusiastic, bought the property in 1989 and added the Grenache and Mondeuse rows soon after.

Burnt Acre released its first wine in 1994 from the historic Newstead Co-Operative Butter Factory, which they set up as a winemaking facility and cellar door. Their wines quickly gained recognition and in the early years the small volumes were often sold out. This outlet closed in early 2003 with all winemaking and sales now on site at Burnt Acre.

Burnt Acre philosophy is to produce high quality wines with great flavour and balance that reflect the seasonal variations, and with cellaring potential up to 10 years.
